Jordan condemns allowing Israeli extremists to storm al-Aqsa Mosque, organize flag march
Occupied Palestine (QNN) – Jordan on Sunday condemned allowing extremist Israeli settlers and a Knesset member to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, and warned of escalation due to the alleged flag march which is taking place in occupied Jerusalem.
Spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Haitham Abu al-Foul said that the Israeli raids, protected by the Israeli police, are a violation of the historical and legal status quo and the international law.
Abu al-Foul stressed that the al-Aqsa Mosque is purely a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jordanian-run Waqf (endowments) and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem has the exclusive jurisdiction to run all the affairs of the holy site.
He called on Israel, the occupying power, to stop practices and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, respect its sanctity, halt measures aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo, and respect the Waqf and al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem.
It’s noteworthy to mention that the hundreds of extremist settlers on Sunday broke into the al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and performed epic prostration for the first time in its courtyards.
