London (QNN)- The former leader of the Labour party Jeremy Corbyn will be readmitted following a 19-day suspension over antisemitism accusations, reported The Guardian.
A panel from the party’s governing body is understood to have agreed to lift Corbyn’s suspension, though the former Labour leader is yet to receive any formal notification or conditions attached, according to the newspaper.
Corbyn had been suspended when he commented on an investigation by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), suggesting that the numbers in the report are exaggerated.
“The numbers have been exaggerated […] the public perception in an opinion poll last year was that one third of all Labour party members were somehow or other under suspicion of antisemitism. The reality is, it was 0.3 per cent of party members had a case against them which had to be put through the process”, he said.
Corbyn on Tuesday stressed that he did not say that concerns about antisemitism were exaggerated nor overstated, however, he meant to say “that the vast majority of Labour Party members were and remain committed anti-racists deeply opposed to antisemitism”.
