Israel’s supreme court extends detention of Maher Al Akhras

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Israeli supreme court rejected to release the hunger-striking administrative detainee Maher Al Akhras and renewed a previous decision to freeze his administrative detention without releasing him, reported Muhjat Al Quds institution.

The decision of the supreme court came although of concerns over Al Akhras’ critical medical condition.

The wife of Al Akhras told QNN that the Israelis denied his family the right to visit him and more guards have been deployed in front of his room at Kaplan hospital.

“The court’s rule to freeze his administrative detention doesn’t mean releasing him”, she said. “they have to release him immediately due to the deterioration in his medical condition”, she added.

“The jailers prevented Maher from seeing his children, mother, and family. We only want to see and support him.”

Maher Al Akhras has been on a hunger strike for 91 days in protest against his administrative detention without charges or trial.
