Israelis storm Sde Teiman to protect jailers who gang raped abductee
Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- A group of Israelis stormed the infamous Sde Teiman detention camp, aiming to protect jailers, who gang-raped an abductee and prevent an investigation into the issue. The assault had left the Palestinian abductee unable to walk.
The incident has sparked widespread controversy and outrage, with several Israeli ministers and Knesset members directly intervening.
Numerous Israeli social media accounts have circulated calls for reservists to head to Sde Teiman to “rescue the soldiers from the investigation.” The political party Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) announced that several of its ministers and Knesset members were heading to Sde Teiman to stop what they termed the “disgrace of arresting the soldiers.”
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the decision to storm the camp came after a detainee was subjected to sexual assaults that left him unable to walk.
Channel 14 reported that following the outrage among Israelis, the military police decided to cancel arrest orders for the soldiers involved, opting instead to limit the action to an investigation.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that army soldiers would not be arrested “as if they were criminals.”
Haaretz, citing sources, reported that there are currently more than 40 Palestinian abductees inside Sde Teiman detention camp. The Israeli Army Radio added that Deputy Speaker of the Knesset from the Likud party, Nissim Vaturi, participated in the storming of the camp.
