Israelis Dance in Provocative Acts as Thousands of Muslims Pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Occupied Jerusalem (Quds News Network)- As Muslim worshippers gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque for Isha and Taraweeh prayers, Israeli settlers performed provocative dances in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, heavily guarded by Israeli forces.

Israeli occupation forces also launched an arrest campaign within the mosque’s courtyards, detaining several worshipers including journalist Ahmad Jalajel and issuing him a summons for investigation on Sunday. Three young men were also arrested for distributing iftar meals to fasting worshippers.

About 60,000 worshippers performed Isha and Taraweeh prayers on the ninth night of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque. This occurred despite heavy military restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on access to the mosque. The Islamic Waqf in the Palestinian capital city confirmed the numbers, noting that most worshippers were from Jerusalem or within the 1948-occupied territories. Israeli forces continue to deny thousands from the West Bank from reaching Jerusalem for prayers.

While allowing Israelis to move freely and perform provocative rituals, local sources reported that Israeli forces obstructed access to the mosque through the Damascus and Al-Silsilah Gates, checking identities and detaining several young men, preventing their entry.

Since the Gaza genocide erupted on October 7, 2023, Israel has implemented strict measures limiting Palestinian access to the eastern part of occupied Jerusalem. Additionally, Israeli police have deployed extra security forces in the Palestinian capital city during Ramadan.
