The raids come amid rising Israeli assaults on Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian worshipers observing the holy month of Ramadan as Israeli forces stormed the holy site for consecutive nights, forcibly expelling the worshipers from the mosque and attacking them as they gathered for Ramadan prayers.
The Israeli military also struck targets in Lebanon, hours after it launched airstrikes on Gaza in response to a spate of rockets launched from Southern Lebanon on Thursday afternoon into northern ‘Israel’ following Israel’s brutal raids in Al-Aqsa.
Early on Wednesday, Israeli occupation claimed they intercepted four rockets from Gaza following the raids in Al-Aqsa.
An Israeli military spokesman has said the Israeli operation was over for the moment. “Nobody wants an escalation right now,” he told reporters, adding “Quiet will be answered with quiet, at this stage I think, at least in the coming hours.”
