Israeli Targeting of Journalists Increases Death Toll to 161

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Government Media Office announced that the death toll of journalists in Gaza has risen to 161 due to Israeli targeting, following the recent military strike that killed Muhammad Abu Jaser along with his wife and two children.

On July 16, the Government Media Office announced in a statement that the number of journalist casualties had risen to 160 since the start of the war on the region. Today, the number has increased to 161.

The Israeli army has continued its war on Gaza since October 2023, causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and displacing over 85% of the population, approximately 1.9 million people.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) described the period since the genocide started as the deadliest period for journalists since CPJ began gathering data in 1992.

Palestinian and international media outlets have repeatedly warned against the Israeli army’s targeting of media crews and have called for their protection, but these calls have been ignored by Israel.

During the ongoing genocide, Israel killed more than 38,800 citizens, mostly women and children, and injured over 89,400 others, according to health authorities.
