Israeli Tanks Reach Southern Daraa Countryside as Ground Incursion Continues

Daraa (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces have expanded their ground incursion into Syrian territories, with tanks reaching the southwestern countryside of Daraa. The military assaults has been ongoing for several days exploiting a transitional period following an uprising against the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Syrian sources reported that Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Saida Al-Golan in western Daraa early this morning. The vehicles moved through the streets before positioning in the village’s central square. The sources noted that Saida Al-Golan lies more than two kilometers beyond the “disengagement line.” Meanwhile, incursions in the Quneitra region have pushed over four kilometers into Syrian territory.

Reports also indicated an Israeli incursion into the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa countryside, posing a threat to the water security of Syria and Jordan. The basin is a crucial water source in the region.

Since the collapse of the Syrian regime, Israeli airstrikes have targeted dozens of locations across Syria. These attacks have hit remaining Syrian army sites, equipment, and weapons, including the Latakia port and various government buildings.

Two days ago, Israeli warplanes launched intense airstrikes on several locations in Daraa province. The strikes targeted weapons depots near the town of Mahja, Brigade 112 between Sheikh Maskin and Nawa, Battalion 175, and abandoned military sites. They also hit areas around Tel Al-Jabiya, Tel Al-Mahes, Tel Al-Hamad, and the Ninth Division. Additional strikes targeted military positions within and around the city of Daraa.

The airstrikes extended to military points in Suwayda, Damascus countryside, areas near Damascus, Masyaf, and the Syrian coast.

The Syrian Interim Government had condemned Israel’s invasion of Syrian territories. Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Qusai Al-Dhahhak, sent letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council. He demanded that Israel respect the disengagement agreement and the mandate of the UNDOF peacekeeping forces.

Ahmed Al-Sharaa, General Commander of Syrian Military Operations, accused Israel of violating the disengagement lines. He warned that such actions threaten unjustified escalation in the region.
