Israeli Settlers Seize Palestinian Home in Hebron While Family Attends Iftar

Occupied Hebron (Quds News Network)- A Palestinian family lost their home in just one hour. Israeli settlers stole the house while the family was away for an Iftar dinner. When they returned, Israeli soldiers blocked their entry, protecting the settlers who had already moved in.

The family had gone to visit relatives for Iftar. Just minutes later, neighbors called to warn them that settlers had entered their home. When the family rushed back, they found their belongings being thrown outside. Soldiers stood guard, refusing to let them back in. “This is no longer your home,” the troops told them.
According to Issa Amro, founder of Youth Against Settlements, the settlers had been monitoring the house. “They waited for the family to leave, then stormed in and took over,” he said. The house, located in Tel Rumeida, is in an area heavily targeted by settlers who aim to expand their presence under military protection.
The house belonged to Abdul Baset Tamimi and sheltered ten family members, including children. With nowhere to go, they spent the night near the property, demanding justice. The family stresses that they have never sold the home, calling the settlers’ claim of purchase a complete fabrication.
Ghassan Abdul Baset, the grandson of the homeowner, went with a lawyer to file a complaint at an Israeli police station. “The person settlers claim they bought it from has no connection to the house,” he said. “This is fraud, and we will fight it in court.”
Tel Rumeida, a historic district in Hebron, has become a focal point for settler takeovers. Several Palestinian properties have been seized in recent years, often under military protection. The area is now surrounded by fences, surveillance, and armed soldiers, making life unbearable for Palestinian families.
The Tamimi family has called for urgent support, urging Hebron residents to stand with them. “Settlers are trying to drive us out, house by house,” their statement read. “This must stop.”
