Israeli Settler Posing as Journalist Arrested in Beirut on Suspicion of Espionage

Beirut (Quds News Network)- Lebanese security forces have arrested an Israeli settler who entered the country posing as a journalist, according to a report from Israeli Army Radio. The individual, who holds both American and British passports, was detained earlier this week on suspicion of espionage.

Israeli media identified the detainee as Joshua Tartakovsky, a Haredi Jewish settler living in occupied Jerusalem. He was arrested on Tuesday after raising suspicions among Lebanese authorities upon entering Beirut as an investigative journalist. During the investigation, Lebanese officials discovered that Tartakovsky was carrying an Israeli passport, and reports suggest he had previously visited Beirut multiple times.

Further details from Israeli media indicated that Tartakovsky, also known by the name Shuki Tartakovsky, was apprehended in the southern suburbs of Beirut, an area known for heightened security, on suspicion of espionage. Kan reporter Amichai Stein revealed that Tartakovsky had served in the Israeli military and grew up in an ultra-Orthodox family. He is known for his writings on war-related topics and has publicly opposed the conscription of Haredim into the Israeli army.
