Israeli Report Aligns with Hamas Statement That Oct. 7 Operation Aimed at Military Sites Only

Gaza (Quds News Network)- An Israeli investigation into the October 7 military operation has aligned with Hamas’s narrative, confirming that the operation was intended to target military sites only belonging to the Gaza Unit, which was besieging the enclave.
Resistance fighters reached the so-called Nova Music Festival near Re’im settlement as a result of a navigation mistake, according to the report by Israel’s public broadcaster KAN. Hamas had repeatedly stressed that its operation targeted military sites only and that chaos followed the military operation.
The resistance fighters had planned to reach the Israeli settlement of Netivot but mistakenly arrived at the festival. Israel deliberately builds residential areas near military sites to shield its military installations from resistance strikes.
Hamas had stated that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was a defensive action against Israeli violations in Palestine. The primary goal was to target Israeli military sites and capture Israeli soldiers, particularly in Gaza’s border settlements. They also noted that the collapse of Israel’s security systems led to unexpected chaos during the operation.
The investigation detailed the fighters’ movements. It reported that 120 fighters, armed with machine guns, anti-tank missiles, RPGs, and personal weapons, entered the occupied land through breaches in the separation fence. They arrived at the festival site at 8:10 a.m., but did not fight until 9:00 a.m.
