Israeli PM dubs settler violence against Palestinians as “insignificant phenomena”

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israeli occupation Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, on Tuesday dubbed settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied territories as an “insignificant phenomena” that should be dealt with.
On Tuesday, Bennett criticized Public Security Minister Omer Barlev for criticizing settler violence in the occupied West Bank and promising to tackle it.
Following Barlev remarks, the occupation PM claimed in a tweet, “Settlers in Judea and Samaria have suffered violence and terror, daily, for decades,” referring to the occupied West Bank.
“They are the defensive bulwark for all of us, and we must strengthen and support them, in words and actions.”
“There are marginal elements in every community, and they should be dealt with using all means, but we must not generalize about an entire community,” Bennett said, without mentioning Barlev by name.
Barlev met on Monday with Victoria Nuland, the US undersecretary for political affairs.
He tweeted that the two discussed “settler violence and how to reduce tensions in the area and strengthen the Palestinian Authority.”
His comment came after Nuland told him that the US State Department was keeping track of settler violence, according to the Israeli Haaretz daily.
Barlev told Nuland his ministry and the War Ministry were working together to address the matter and said he was working to deploy more police in the occupied West Bank.
‘Israel’ has built more than 280 illegal settlements in the West Bank, which are home to more than 440,000 settlers.
Violence committed by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinians has been documented since the very early days of the occupation in countless government documents and dossiers, thousands of testimonies from Palestinians and soldiers, books, reports by Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights organizations, and thousands of media stories.
The violent acts include beating, throwing stones, issuing threats, torching fields, destroying trees and crops, stealing crops, using live fire, damaging homes and cars, and, in rare cases, homicide.
In 2019, there were 363 incidents and 507 reported in 2020.
In 2021, there were 135 recorded incidents of stones thrown at Palestinians, up from 90 in 2019, and 250 additional violent incidents, compared to 100 in 2019, according to Israeli human rights group, B’Tselem, which said in a recently-published report that the Israeli occupation government has been using settler violence as “a major informal tool” to take over Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
Of the 416 incidents reported between January and June of 2021, there were approximately 139 incidents of vandalism, stone-throwing, assaults and so-called price-tag incidents
