Israeli occupation forces arrest 40 civilians in widescale West Bank campaign

Jerusalem (Quds News Network) – In a widespread arrest campaign conducted last night and this morning, Israeli occupation forces detained at least 40 civilians from the West Bank, as reported by the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and the Detainee and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority.
Among those arrested were Dalal and Fatima al-Arouri, the sisters of Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri, the deputy Hamas chief killed in a targeted Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon, on January 2. The two were detained from their homes in the central West Bank province of Ramallah.

In addition, the arrests included 15 individuals from Gaza who were working in Israel prior to the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, detained by the Israeli occupation forces from the town of Bidya in the Salfit province.
A joint statement issued by the PPS and the Detainee and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority highlighted that the arrest operations were particularly concentrated in the Hebron province. Additional detentions were reported in various areas, including Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jenin.
Simultaneous with the arrest raids, Israeli occupation forces continued a campaign of widespread raids and intimidation in cities, towns, and refugee camps, as outlined in the statement. The actions were accompanied by on-site interrogations involving dozens of civilians. Disturbingly, there were reports of extensive property damage and destruction in homes, infrastructure, and the confiscation of funds and vehicles.
The joint statement underscored that the number of Palestinians arrested by Israeli occupation forces since October 7 has reached a staggering 5,875. This figure encompasses individuals detained from their homes, at military checkpoints, those compelled to surrender under pressure, and individuals taken hostage.
Israeli occupation forces persist in executing systematic arrest campaigns, integral to their apartheid policies. These campaigns not only witness an unprecedented increase in the number of detainees but also a rise in the severity of crimes committed against the Palestinian population.

Furthermore, the forces have intensified their incursions into the homes of detainees’ families, often accompanied by extensive acts of sabotage and destruction. The ongoing actions of the Israeli forces continue to draw condemnation from international human rights organizations and calls for an immediate cessation of such practices.
