Israeli occupation army suffers new losses in Gaza battles
Gaza (Quds News Network) – The Israeli army announced this morning the killing of two soldiers and the injury of three others, including an officer, in battles with the Palestinian resistance in the southern Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, clashes intensify between the resistance and occupation forces in the Zaitoun neighborhood of Gaza City and in Khan Yunis.
The Israeli occupation army stated that one of the soldiers killed yesterday in the southern part of the Strip belonged to the Givati Brigade, one of its elite units.
This announcement comes a day after the occupation army admitted to the death of a company commander, a major in the Shaked Battalion, which is part of the Givati Brigade, in battles taking place in the northern Gaza Strip.
Prior to this, seven officers and soldiers were wounded on Thursday in battles occurring in various areas of the Strip.
According to the official toll, 240 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the ground invasion at the end of October last year, with over 2,960 others injured. Currently, 318 of them are still undergoing treatment in hospitals.
However, Palestinian resistance sources affirm that the actual number of Israeli casualties is significantly higher than acknowledged by Tel Aviv.
Fierce battles
Meanwhile, the Zaitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City has become a focal point for fighting between the resistance and Israeli occupation forces in recent days. The neighborhood witnesses intense combat accompanied by Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling.
Simultaneously, fierce battles continue in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, while the northern part of the Strip experiences clashes and operations by the resistance.
The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced yesterday that its fighters had sniped an Israeli officer with a Goul rifle south of the Zaitoun neighborhood. Additionally, the Brigades said they have destroyed an Israeli military vehicle with a Shawaz explosive device in the same area, resulting in casualties among the crew.
Furthermore, the Al-Qassam Brigades reported targeting an Israeli Merkava tank with a Tandem shell south of the Zaitoun neighborhood.
On another front, Saraya al-Quds, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, stated that they shelled Israeli military units in the Zaitoun neighborhood using mortar shells.
The group also broadcasted footage showing rocket barrages targeting Israeli military reinforcements in the advancing areas south of Gaza City.
