Israeli MK, settlers threaten three Sheikh Jarrah families of forced expulsion
Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli settlers, including the Knesset member Bezalel Smotrich, on Tuesday stormed the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under protection by Israeli forces and threatened three families of forced expulsion.
The settlers included the far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich and the manager of the settlement association ‘Ateret Cohanim’. The association has been responsible for filing lawsuits in Israeli courts to expel native Palestinians from their houses in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Saleh Dhyab, a Sheikh Jarrah house owner, said that settlers tried to storm three houses belonging to the Dhyab, Kurd, and Qasem families. They threatened the owners of forced expulsion and gave them a month to leave their houses.
He added that the owners of the houses met the settlers’ raid by hand-fighting.
Muhammad El Kurd, a Sheikh Jarrah resident and activist, said that the director of Nahalat Shimon, a US-regisrtered settler organization working to ethnically cleanse native Palestinians in the neighborhood, stormed his house.
Last night, settlers attacked the neighborhood, leaving 20 injuries. Israeli forces sprayed skunk water at the Red Crescent’s medical teams, while settlers threw stones at them, according to a statement by the Red crescent.
