Israeli minister announces plan to build Jewish synagogue in Al-Aqsa Mosque

Occupied Jerusalem (Quds News Network)- Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has announced his intention to establish a Jewish synagogue within the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, a site revered by Muslims worldwide. This statement was reported by Israel’s Army Radio, where Ben-Gvir claimed that Israeli law grants equal rights to Muslims and Jews to conduct prayers at the holy mosque.

The announcement comes just two weeks after Ben-Gvir, accompanied by another member of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and approximately 3,000 Israelis, forcefully entered Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. This intrusion, widely condemned by Palestinians and the international community, has heightened tensions in the already volatile occupied city.

In response to Ben-Gvir’s remarks, Hamas labeled the announcement a dangerous escalation, reflecting the true intentions of the Israeli government towards Al-Aqsa. Hamas warned, “The fascist occupation’s crimes only add fuel to the fire and will be met with resistance from our people to protect the holy sites.”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also condemned Ben-Gvir’s plans, stating that these actions are part of a broader agenda to Judaize Jerusalem. The PFLP criticized the Arab world’s silence and the absence of Islamic and Christian authorities, which it says emboldens the Israeli government to expand its crimes in Jerusalem and accelerate its aggression. They further argued that Arab complacency in the face of the ongoing assault on Gaza only encourages Israeli leaders to pursue their plans against the Palestinian people.
