Israeli media: Israeli prisoners, recovered yesterday, died in tunnel due to Israeli airstrikes

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli media report that five Israeli hostages, who were kept in a tunnel, were suffocated to death inside a tunnel by the Israeli army, which attacked the area and caused a fire that filled the tunnel with carbon dioxide. The incident allegedly occurred during an Israeli attack by the 98th Division in Khan Younis, approximately six months ago.
The bodies of the prisoners—identified as Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell, and Chaim Peri—were recently recovered by the Israel military in an overnight attack. The Israeli army claimed that the recovery was made possible with the assistance of Israeli intelligence services.
The Israeli army claims the deaths were an unintended consequence of a military operation. However, Hamas had previously released videos showing evidence of the hostages’ deaths months ago, attributing the deaths directly to the ongoing and intense Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
The operation, which the Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant described as “complex,” involved Israeli troops entering tunnels in Khan Younis to retrieve the bodies. This recovery comes as the Gaza Strip continues to face heavy Israeli airstrikes, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Hamas repeatedly warned that Israel’s brutal attacks on Gaza are killing Palestinians, as well as Israeli prisoners. However, that did not stop Netanyahu from continuing the war of extermination targeting all forms of life in the Gaza Strip.
