Israeli media: ‘Israel’ backs Sudan coup
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- ‘Israel Hayom’ reported on Monday that ‘Israel’ views with satisfaction the military coup in Sudan against the civilian transitional authority.
the Israeli newspaper added citing an informed source that “in light of the emerging situation in Sudan, it is better for us to support the army and its leader, the head of the transitional council Abdul Fattah Al Burhan, not the Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.”
The statement came following a military coup led by Al Burhan. Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, as well as members of his cabinet and other civilian leaders, were arrested immediately after the start of the coup.
The source told the Israeli newspaper that “the coup was inevitable, as the military-backed president [of the transitional council] and the Prime Minister were moving in opposite directions and it was clear that they will reach a critical juncture.”
He added that although “the situation in Sudan reminds us a lot of the situation at the end of Mubarak’s time, however, of the two leaders, Burhan tends more towards normalization and strengthening relations with the United States and Israel more than Hamdok does.”
He also claimed that “the recent developments in Sudan give a better chance for stability in Sudan, which is a vital issue for the region.”
The source also told the newspaper that the main reason behind Sudan’s refraining from normalization with the occupation state and being involved in the agreements that former US President Donald Trump initiated was the rejection of Sudan’s Prime Minister.
