Israeli Heath Minister who described COVID-19 as ‘divine punishment’ tested positive for COVID-19
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Israeli Minister of Health, Yaakov Litzman, has tested positive for COVID-19, causing chaos among Israeli officials as they struggle to contain the crisis.
The minister, who has previously called the COVID-19 “a divine punishment against homosexuality”, got infected after flouting his own lockdown rules and continuing to attend group prayers, despite a ban on gatherings, according to Israeli media.
Litzman and his wife have tested positive for the virus. Several senior officials in Benjamin Netanyahu’s Cabinet, have been forced to go into isolation after the 71-year-old minister contracted coronavirus.
The health minister is also leading Agudat Yisrael – an Orthodox Israeli political party. He was previously accused of aiding at least 10 serious sex offenders obtain improved conditions, including home visits and other benefits, by pressuring state psychiatrists and prison service officials.
He was also accused of helping an Australian school principal, called Malka Leifer, who was in her turn convicted with sexual abuses against students.
