Israeli Forces Target Policemen in Gaza, Allowing Thieves to Loot Humanitarian Aid

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces on Friday targeted a group of policemen in Gaza who were pursuing thieves attempting to loot humanitarian aid. The attack occurred as the officers were actively chasing the armed robbers, enabling the thieves to carry out their heist without interference. This incident underscores the chaotic environment in Gaza, where armed gangs exploit the situation to steal essential supplies meant for the population, under Israeli cover.
The assault took place in Al-Thawra street, where the policemen were engaged in efforts to secure commercial warehouses. Following the Israeli attack, the thieves seized the opportunity to loot the warehouses while the officers lay incapacitated on the ground. This coordinated action raises serious concerns about the role of Israeli forces in facilitating crime in the besieged strip.
As of April 19, the Government Media Office reported that 748 security personnel and aid workers have been killed by Israeli forces, with 157 documented attacks against police and aid security personnel. The ongoing genocide and Israel’s starvation campaign have created a security vacuum that Israeli-backed armed gangs are exploiting to steal humanitarian aid intended for over two million Palestinians suffering from Israel’s starvation war.
Gaza’s security sources had previously stated that they intercepted communications indicating that Israel’s intelligence agency, Shin Bet, is providing support to these criminal gangs. A Haaretz investigation confirmed that the Israeli army aids such activities, while an internal United Nations memo suggested that these gangs may receive protection from Israeli forces.
Ismail Thawabta, Director General of Gaza’s Government Media Office, stated that many gang members have criminal backgrounds and coordinate with Israeli forces to intercept aid trucks. Since Israel took control of the Rafah border crossing last year, the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza had been entirely blocked.
The looting of aid has dire consequences for Gazans. The lack of food and medicine has led to deaths from hunger and inadequate healthcare, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the besieged strip.
