Israeli Forces Snipe Al Jazeera Cameraman While Covering West Bank Protest
Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Israeli forces on Tuesday opened fire at Al Jazeera cameraman, Fadi Yassin, injuring him while covering a protest in the northern occupied West Bank. The incident took place near Nour Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem, where displaced residents gathered to demand their return home.
Al Jazeera said an Israeli sniper opened live fire at the crowd. Cameraman Fadi Yassin was hit in both legs. A child standing nearby was also wounded by shrapnel.
Yassin received first aid at the scene before medics rushed him to Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem.
Witnesses said the protest was peaceful. Families who were forced out of the camp ten months ago held signs and called for immediate return to their homes.
Local journalists noted that Israeli forces have stepped up assaults on Palestinians and international activists across the occupied West Bank. Tuesday’s shooting adds to a growing list of attacks on reporters working in the field.
