Israeli forces repress and attack Sheikh Jarrah residents
Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli forces on Saturday repressed a protest against violations against the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan in Jerusalem.
Israeli forces beat up protesters at the entrance to the Skeikh Jarrah neighborhood and also threw stun grenades against them. The Israeli attack left the head of the neighborhood’s committee, Aref Hammad, with an injury in his back.
Israeli forces had also turned the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood into a military zone, denying its residents their right of movement.
The residents of the neighborhood have been facing the danger of what they describe as a new Nakba. Israeli Authorities decided to ethnically cleanse them to replace them with Israeli settlers. The Israeli plan aims at surrounding the old city and turn Palestinian neighborhoods into ghettos.
However, residents of the neighborhood carry out regular protests, rejecting the plans to expel them.
