Israeli forces raid Kamal Adwan Hospital, trapping over 150 patients, staff

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces have raided on Friday the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, and ordered patients and staff to go down to the main courtyard. More than 150 people are now trapped inside the hospital.

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital has told Al Jazeera the windows of several patients’ rooms have been shattered as a result of ongoing Israeli bombing around the medical facility.

Earlier, Israeli tanks had shelled the facility and the military later bombed the “oxygen station” at Kamal Adwan, reportedly killing a “number of children”.

A spokesman for Gaza’s Civil Defence has said that more than 150 patients and staff are trapped inside the hospital.

The Kamal Adwan Hospital is one of the few remaining functioning medical facilities in northern Gaza amid a deadly Israeli siege and assault that has entered its third week.

Earlier this week, the director of the hospital, Hussam Abu Safiya, warned that the hospital could become a mass grave as one patient was dying every hour as a result of the Israeli military siege.

Following today’s Israeli raid, Abu Safiya said, “We expected humanitarian aid to arrive, but all we received were Israeli occupation tanks.”

The General Director of the Health Ministry in Gaza, Munir al-Borsh, also confirmed that several children were martyred at Kamal Adwan Hospital after the Israeli occupation bombed the oxygen station.

“The Israeli blockade on Kamal Adwan Hospital has resulted in the martyrdom of wounded individuals who were prevented from reaching it. The Israeli occupation is intensifying its destruction of the health system in the region amid international silence,” he added.
