Israeli forces put child in detention after breaking his jaw

Occupied Hebron (QNN)- The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) sent Muhammad Miqbil (16 years old) from Hadasah hospital to Megiddo after he underwent to a surgery last Wednesday to fix his lower jaw, which was broken by Israeli forces.

The Palestinian prisoners association on Sunday said “The kid is from Al Arroub refugee camp in northern Hebron. He was arrested on 29 November while he was heading to school. He was severely beaten by Israeli soldiers, who broke his lower jaw and caused bruises throughout his body.”

A military trial was held for the child today.

Each year approximately 500-700 Palestinian children are detained and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system. The most common charge is stone throwing, for which the maximum sentence is 20 years. Currently, more than 190 Palestinian children remain in detention in Israeli prisons.
