Israeli Forces Kill Son of Kamal Adwan Hospital Director After He Refuses Evacuation Orders

Gaza (Quds News Network)- In northern Gaza, Israeli forces have killed the son of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, following his refusal to abandon the hospital despite Israeli orders and threats. Dr. Abu Safiya, who chose to remain in the hospital as it came under siege, conducted a solemn prayer over his son, Ibrahim, wearing his medical attire in a moving display of grief and defiance.
Israeli forces stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital on Friday, subjecting Dr. Abu Safiyya to interrogation for his stance. According to Maher Shamia, an assistant undersecretary at the Ministry of Health, the Israeli military demanded Dr. Abu Safiya meet with the commanding officer in the hospital courtyard, where he was forced to undergo questioning.
Reports indicate that Israeli forces have detained patients, staff, and family members inside the hospital, their fate unknown amid ongoing attacks. In a concerning development, men inside the hospital were reportedly separated from women and required to strip, with some bound and subjected to on-site interrogations. Women were later permitted to leave toward Gaza City, while the men remain held.
Health officials and international organizations are urgently appealing to global institutions for intervention. Shamia called for “immediate action to protect the hospital’s staff and patients, demand Israeli withdrawal, and secure essential supplies like fuel, food, water, and medical resources for northern Gaza’s hospitals.”
The Ministry of Health previously announced that Israeli forces had forcibly taken over Kamal Adwan, cutting off hundreds of patients, healthcare workers, and displaced people within its walls. The World Health Organization has reported a loss of communication with the hospital, raising alarms about the conditions inside.
Before his detention, Dr. Abu Safiyya told reporters that the besiegement of northern Gaza hospitals had rendered them inoperable. As Israeli forces continue their incursions and shelling throughout northern Gaza, calls for international intervention intensify amid mounting concerns over civilian displacement and restricted humanitarian access.
