Local sources said the Israeli forces opened fire towards a Palestinian woman on suspicion of attempting to carry out a stabbing operation against heavily-armed soldiers stationed near al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified her as Maha Kazem Awad, a 24-year-old resident of the city.
Meanwhile, Israeli media claimed an officer from the so-called Israeli border police sustained minor injuries as a result of the alleged stabbing operation.
Earlier today, the Israeli forces also shot dead another Palestinian woman, identified as 47-year-old Ghada Ibrahim Sabatien who is a widowed mother of six, in the town of Husan, west of Bethlehem.
