Israeli Forces Execute Seven Refugees in Gaza School, More Killed in Heavy Shelling
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces executed seven Palestinian refugees and injured dozens more on Monday, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses, after forcing them out of a UNRWA school sheltering displaced families in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza. The victims were struck by Israeli artillery shortly after being ordered to leave the school.
Medical personnel at Kamal Adwan Hospital reported the arrival of seven bodies and several injured civilians following the artillery shelling near Birkat Abu Rashid in Jabalia. Witnesses recounted that Israeli forces, deeply entrenched in the camp, had compelled the refugees trapped in the UNRWA-operated Ikreizem School to gather outside before launching the deadly attack.
Since October 5, the Israeli military has intensified its attacks in Jabalia and northern Gaza, unleashing unprecedented artillery and air strikes. These assaults have left behind a devastating trail of destruction and civilian casualties.
In addition to the seven refugees killed at the school, six more Palestinians, including children, were killed by Israeli airstrikes while trying to collect water in Jabalia Al-Balad, according to medics. Further attacks by Israeli drones near Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the camp claimed the lives of four more people.
Elsewhere in Gaza, Israeli bombardments targeted civilian homes and refugee shelters. In Sheikh Radwan, north of Gaza City, nine Palestinians were killed when an airstrike hit a residential building. Three more people were killed in an Israeli attack on Ghazi Al-Shawwa School in Beit Hanoun, which also housed displaced families.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has conducted a relentless offensive across Gaza by air, land, and sea. The ongoing assaults have led to the deaths of 42,603 Palestinians and left nearly 100,000 injured, the majority of them women and children. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened, with widespread food shortages, a lack of clean water, and the destruction of essential infrastructure.
International calls for a ceasefire have been largely ignored by Israel, despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate halt to the hostilities. The International Court of Justice has also urged Israel to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
