Israeli forces detain volunteers on an olive tree planting mission

Hebron (QNN) – Israeli occupation forces on Thursday briefly detained a number of Palestinian volunteers while they were on their way to plant trees in Khillat al-Dabea village in the south of the West Bank, said Rateb Jabour, a local activist.

Jabout told official Palestinian news agency Wafa that the volunteers were trying to reach the village located in Masafer Yatta region, which is part of Area C of the occupied West Bank that remained under full Israeli control, when the soldiers stopped them and held them.

He said the volunteers intended to reach Khillat al-Dabe school, which Israel has demolished last year and the Palestinians had rebuilt but is under a renewed Israeli threat of demolition because it is located in Area C.

Jabour said the volunteers will not stop attempting to reach the school and plant olive trees in its vicinity in order to protect it despite the Israeli ban.
