Israeli Forces Detain Quneitra Residents, Confiscate Phones and IDs

Occupied Golan (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces detained residents of Rasem Al-Rawadi village in Quneitra, southern Syria, on Tuesday. Local sources reported that troops forced families out of their homes and held them for hours in a village school.

Eyewitnesses told Al Jazeera that the operation primarily targeted women and children. Israeli soldiers interrogated the residents for hours, seizing mobile phones and ID cards. While the detainees were eventually released, their personal belongings remain confiscated.

The residents called on the international community to stop Israel’s actions. They said the operation violates the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel, overseen by the United Nations.

After the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad flee the country, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the agreement nullified. He deployed Israeli troops into the Golan Heights buffer zone, which separates Israeli-occupied territory from Syria.

Since then, Israeli forces have advanced into Syrian territories. They have restricted movement in Quneitra and nearby villages, shooting at anyone who approaches restricted areas.

A local resident described the ordeal: “They stormed our house with a bulldozer,” highlighting the destruction caused by Israeli forces.

Reports also indicated that Israeli troops have intensified operations in nearby villages, including Saida Al-Golan and Saida Al-Hanout. They continue to block international aid organizations from entering the area.

Quneitra’s residents remain under siege, urging global intervention to halt the escalating violations.
