Israeli forces arrest and assault Palestinians over participating in anti-occupation protest in Tubas

Tubas (QNN)- Israeli occupation forces yesterday arrested 12 Palestinians and assaulted others over participating in an anti-occupation protest near the town of Tayasir in Tubas in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.

The head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) office in Tubas, said the forces broke into Tubas city and arrested 12 Palestinians while they were Participating in an anti-occupation protest.

The forces also attacked the protesters with rubber-coated metal bullets, injuring one protester, and others suffocated with tear gas.

The protesters were demonstrating at an Israeli military checkpoint east of Tayasir town and chanting slogans against Israel’s colonial settlements and plans to annex the Jordan Valley to ‘Israel’.

There are nearly 700,000 Israeli settlers living in 256 illegal settlements and outposts scattered across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.
