Israeli Editor’s Guide Urges New York Zionists to Defeat Mamdani, Drawing on Anti-Corbyn Smear Playbook

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- A leading Israeli newspaper is facing criticism for openly pushing zionists in New York to derail the campaign of Zohran Mamdani, a progressive Democratic candidate for mayor, through coordinated manipulative tactics modeled on the 2019 UK smear campaign against Jeremy Corbyn.
Zvika Klein, editor of the Jerusalem Post, published a guide calling on New York zionists to unite against Mamdani. In his op-ed, Klein likened Mamdani to Corbyn, and described his primary victory over former Governor Andrew Cuomo as “a referendum on Israel.”
He urged zionist groups in New York to use the same six-step strategy British zionist leaders deployed to take down Corbyn, who suffered Labour’s worst electoral defeat since 1935.
Manipulating the Media and Framing the Narrative
Klein stressed the importance of owning the news cycle. He pointed to how British zionist media “leaked” stories daily in 2019; emails, accusations, polling, to keep “antisemitism” in headlines and damage Corbyn’s image.
He called on zionist organizations in New York to do the same: coordinate daily content, flood newsrooms, and keep Mamdani tied to antisemitism, regardless of policy or context. “Never let voters forget the word antisemitism,” he wrote.
Call for Biased Polling and Emotional Manipulation
The article also urged pro-Israel institutions, like the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Anti-Defamation League, to fund polls framing Mamdani as untrustworthy or extreme. It advised publishing such data “early and often” to shape public perception.
Klein further encouraged emotional storytelling over political debate. He recommended highlighting Holocaust survivors, sympathetic shop owners, and “community fears,” regardless of actual policy positions. The goal, he argued, is to shift the conversation from “geopolitics” to identity and “racism.”
The Jerusalem Post article frames New York’s upcoming mayoral race as a direct copy of Britain’s 2019 elections. “London’s Jews wrote the playbook,” Klein said. “New York’s Jews still have time to run it.”
The piece ends with a threat: “courting antisemitism comes with an electoral price tag no politician can afford.”
Mamdani, a Ugandan-Indian American, represents a growing generation of US politicians who criticize Israeli policy and support Palestinian rights. His candidacy has energized young voters, especially through social media. According to a recent poll, he leads among Jewish voters by a 17-point margin in the race to become New York’s next mayor.
But now, he finds himself the target of a foreign-backed media campaign seeking to label him a threat to “Jewish life”, despite no evidence of antisemitism.
In 2019, zionists in the UK carried out a smear campaign against Corbyn relying on coordinated media pressure, exaggerated accusations, and moral panic to crush left-wing challenges. A large investigation bt AlJazeera revealed how unelected officials in the Labour Party ran a coup by stealth against the elected leader of the party based in misinformation.
As the November election nears, many fear that outside manipulation may again reshape US politics, not through votes, but through fear and manufactured outrage.
