Israeli Drone Targets Vehicle in Southern Lebanon in Another Breach of Ceasefire Agreement
Beirut (Quds News Network)- An Israeli drone targeted a car in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon on Saturday, violating the ongoing ceasefire agreement, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA). The targeted vehicle was a Mercedes, and the attack occurred on a road in the village of Khardali. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health confirmed that the airstrike resulted in one death.
This brings the total number of Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement to 225 since it went into effect 17 days ago. The violations have led to 30 deaths and 31 injuries, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
Since November 27, 2023, a fragile ceasefire has been in place, ending the heavy exchange of fire between Israel and Hezbollah that started on October 8, 2023 following Israel’s brutal attack on Gaza, and escalated into a large-scale war on September 23, 2024.
Israel has continued to breach the ceasefire, under the pretext of threats from Hezbollah. In response, Hezbollah launched a missile attack on December 2, targeting the Ruaysat Al-Alam military site in the occupied Kfar Shuba hills in southern Lebanon.
The ceasefire agreement’s main terms include Israel’s gradual withdrawal to the Blue Line separating Lebanon and the occupation state within 60 days, the deployment of Lebanese army and security forces along the border, and the dismantling of military infrastructure. The Lebanese army is the only entity authorized to carry weapons in southern Lebanon according to the agreement.
The Israeli aggression on Lebanon has caused 4,061 deaths and over 16,600 injuries, many of whom are women and children. The conflict has also displaced approximately 1.4 million people, with the majority of casualties and displacements occurring after the escalation on September 23.
