Israeli court issues life-term prison sentence against Palestinian detainee
Occupied Palestine (QNN) – Salem Israeli military court has issued a life term prison sentence against a Palestinian detainee from the city of Nablus.
Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said on Sunday that the Israeli military court has sentenced detainee Khalil Dwaikat to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of NIS 280,000.
The prison term given to detainee Dwaikat based on allegations of carrying out an attack in the pre-1948 occupied territories, which left one Israeli settler dead.
A resident of the town of Rujeib to the east of Nablus, citizen Dwaikat was detained in August 2020 and had his house demolished by the Israeli occupation forces.
A father of six children, the Israeli occupation has been denying the detainee Dwaikat from seeing his children for a long time.
The number of Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails serving life-term prison sentences has increased to 550, Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said.
The society added that the longest-serving detainee among them is Abdullah al-Barghouti, indicating that the Israeli occupation has sentenced him to 67 life-terms in prison.
