Israeli court freezes forced expulsion of 3 Palestinian families in Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- The Israeli High Court on Thursday issued a decision freezing the forced expulsion of three Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem.
The family’s attorney, Sami Irsheid, said that the court accepted a petition submitted by him and attorney Hosni Abu Hussein on behalf of the Dajani, Hammad, and Dahoudi families to freeze the forced expulsion decision until the completion of the families for an appeal against the decision, which will be later considered by the same court.
The forced expulsion decision was supposed to enter into effect on August 1.
On March 4, 2021, the court rejected an appeal submitted by the families against the expulsion decision that was issued on September 4. 2020.
On August 2, the same court is scheduled to consider another appeal by four other families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood (al-Jauni, al-Qasim, Iskafi and al-Kurd) against their forced expulsion from their homes.
The four families include seven households of 30 individuals, including ten children.
Sheikh Jarrah has been cited as one of the most issues that sparked attention and condemnation around the world.
Dozens of Palestinians are facing imminent forced expulsion from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah, in a move to force them out and replace it entirely with an Israeli settlement.
A plan for the settlement, consisting of 200 housing units on 18 dunums, has already been submitted to the Israeli municipality in Jerusalem.
In 1972, several Israeli settler organisations filed a lawsuit against the Palestinian families living in Sheikh Jarrah, alleging the land originally belonged to Jews.
These groups, mostly funded by donors from the United States, have waged a relentless battle that resulted in the displacement of 43 Palestinians in 2002, as well as the Hanoun and Ghawi families in 2008 and the Shamasneh family in 2017.
Within the past months, Israeli settlers and forces used violence by attacking and arresting several Palestinians demonstrating against Israel’s expulsion of the families from their homes in the neighborhood.
