Israeli Colonel behind false Oct 7th beheaded babies and rape stories seriously wounded in Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Colonel Golan Vach, the Israeli officer who gained international attention for his false claims about beheaded babies and rape incidents in the October 7th Hamas military operation, has reportedly been seriously wounded in Gaza. Vach, 50, sustained life-threatening injuries when a tunnel collapsed on him while in the central Gaza Strip, reported Israeli media. According to sources, a metal rod pierced his body, leaving him in critical condition.
Vach, a former commander of the Israeli military’s special rescue unit, was the first to propagate the now-debunked narrative of beheaded babies and raped women in the aftermath of the Hamas-led military operation on Israeli military sites in neighboring settlements. On October 7th, Vach had claimed he personally witnessed decapitated infants, an assertion that was later discredited by survivors and other sources.
In the days following the operation, Colonel Vach told the international press that he had witnessed the remains of a decapitated baby at Kibbutz Be’eri. His description of the horrors supposedly committed by resistance fighters spread rapidly in global media, fueling outrage and justifying Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. “I personally carried the decapitated baby,” Vach told reporters on a media tour organized by the Israeli military, describing the aftermath of the military operation.
However, survivors and witnesses later contradicted his account, stating that no infants or toddlers were among the dead. According to survivors, a total of 13 settlers were killed in the attack at Cohen’s home in Be’eri settlement, all of whom were middle-aged or older, except for adolescent twins who were taken by resistance fighters as the Israeli military was shooting at everyone.
This report has been edited to correct information, as Vach’s death has not been confirmed. What has been confirmed so far is that he sustained serious injuries.
