Israeli-Born US Attorney Declines to Prosecute Top Israeli Cyber Official Arrested in Child Predator Case, Releases Him Without Explanation

Nevada (Quds News Network)- Israeli-born acting US Attorney for Nevada, Sigal Chattah, has declined to prosecute Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, a senior Israeli cyber official who was arrested in Las Vegas on charges related to soliciting sex from a minor.
Chattah said in a statement on Justice.gov: “Last week, Tom Artiom Alexandrovich was arrested in a Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children joint operation; and he was booked into the Henderson Detention Center. This important multi-agency operation targeted child sex predators who preyed upon the most vulnerable members of our communities. As a result of the operation, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office is handling the prosecution.”
Electronic Intifada’s Ali Abunimah said, “The Israeli-born Acting US Attorney for Nevada, Sigal Chattah, has just announced she is NOT going to prosecute Israeli child sex crimes suspect Tom Alexandrovich, leaving it instead to local prosecutors where it is far less likely to be successful, given that he was allowed to leave the country,”
“Federal prosecutors can and often do prosecute these cases, especially when federal agencies are involved in the sting, as they were here. But not in this case,” he added.

The US State Department denied any government intervention in the release of Tom Artiom Alexandrovich. Officials said Alexandrovich was given a court date for charges related to soliciting sex from a minor. He did not claim diplomatic immunity, as he was not on an official diplomatic trip, and was released by a state judge pending trial.
Alexandrovich, 38, is Acting Head of Data & AI at Israel’s National Cyber Directorate. He reports directly to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and oversees critical Israeli infrastructure, including power grids, airports, and intelligence networks. He also founded Israel’s multi-million-dollar “Cyber Dome” initiative, which uses AI to detect and repel cyber threats.
Las Vegas police, working with the FBI, Homeland Security, and Nevada’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested eight men on Wednesday. All faced charges of luring children for sexual acts. Alexandrovich was the only one of them who was released quickly on bail without his passport seized, allowing him to return to Israel.
Israeli media reported only that he was “briefly detained for questioning,” omitting further details about the felony charges or the multi-agency investigation.
Child protection groups warn Israel has a growing pedophile problem. The 2023 report by the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel found that 36% of sexual offence complaints involved incest. Complaints about crimes against children reached 70% of cases.
The Matzof Association, which monitors pedophiles in the occupation state of Israel, reports tens of thousands of offenders and about 100,000 victims annually. Reports say Israel has become a safe haven for sexual predators.
