Israeli Air Force Reservists Accuse Netanyahu of Prolonging Gaza War for Political Gain, Face Dismissal Threats

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Senior Israeli Air Force commanders have called reservists who signed a protest letter, demanding they withdraw their signatures or face immediate dismissal. The letter, signed by 970 aircrew members including pilots and senior officers, states that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is continuing the Gaza genocide primarily to serve his own political interests.

The dismissal threats have backfired in some cases, with only 25 reservists removing their names while eight others actually added their signatures. Israeli Commander Tomer Bar staunchly defended the ultimatum, insisting that personnel who question the war’s motives cannot properly fulfill their reserve duties.

Even as they criticize Netanyahu’s continuation of the Gaza genocide to serve his own political interests, the reservists continue to follow orders.

Multiple reports indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has systematically obstructed prisoner exchange deals with Hamas to maintain his political coalition. Relatives of Israeli prisoners, Hamas officials, and Israeli security sources confirm Netanyahu blocked negotiations and delayed implementation of agreed terms, prioritizing political survival over Israeli prisoners’ lives. Prisoners’ families have publicly accused him of abandoning detainees to appease far-right coalition partners, with Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar revealing Netanyahu prevented him from briefing ministers on negotiations. This obstruction continued despite Hamas showing willingness to comply with ceasefire terms, as Netanyahu yielded to hardline ministers who opposed any deals they viewed as concessions.

Israel’s offensive in Gaza has resulted in over 50,000 Palestinian deaths, the majority being women and children, with thousands more missing under rubble. Both the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice have ruled against Israel’s actions, issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant while hearing genocide accusations. Despite these rulings, Israel continues its genocide, targeting displacement camps and civilian infrastructure while restricting humanitarian aid, vaccines and clean water. Recent military operations have violated temporary ceasefires, including a January pause that collapsed after Israeli strikes killed 700 Palestinians in days, with medical officials describing the blockade policies as systematic extermination.
