‘Israel’ to lobby US to defend notorious spyware company NSO

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The occupation state of ‘Israel’ is lobbying the United States to reverse its blacklisting last week of notorious spyware company NSO Group, The New York Times reported late Monday.
The sanctions imposed last week by the Biden administration came amid intensifying accusations that the Pegasus hacking software, sold by the NSO group, was used to spy on hundreds of journalists and human rights activists around the world.
Recent reports have also revealed that the spyware has been detected on devices of Palestinian human rights workers, whose organizations were designated as terrorist groups by the occupation state. NSO insists its product is meant only to assist countries in fighting crime and terrorism.
Citing two unnamed senior Israeli officials, the report said Washington’s recent move has alarmed the occupation state. It said ‘Israel’ views the accusation that NSO acted against US interests as an implicit accusation against ‘Israel’, which licenses its software.
Now, the occupation state will try to convince US President Joe Biden’s administration that the activities of NSO and a second blacklisted firm, Candiru, “remain of great importance to the national security of both countries,” the report said.
