‘Israel’ to ignore PA request to hold elections in East Jerusalem
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The occupation state of Israel is planning to ignore a request by the Palestinian Authority to allow the Palestinian legislative and presidential elections to be held in occupied East Jerusalem, Ynet news site reported Saturday.
Citing sources who are well-informed on the matter, the Israeli website reported that the final decision to “ignore” the letter sent by the PA last week came after top Israeli officials held discussions on the matter in the last few days.
The PA and all Palestinian factions agree that there will be no elections unless the Palestinians living in East Jerusalem get to vote.
“If Jerusalem residents can’t vote in the heart of the city where they live, there will not be elections,” Abbas said during a speech in Ramallah. “We are very interested in holding elections, but not at any price.”
