Israel targeted 172 Shelters in Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Government Media Office said that Israel targeted 172 Shelters for displaced people since the start of the genocide in the Strip.
The office stated that with the massacres in two school in Gaza City today, “the occupation army has targeted and bombed 172 shelters housing tens of thousands of displaced persons since the beginning of the genocide. Among these shelters are 152 schools housing displaced persons, including government schools and schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The death toll inside these schools has exceeded 1,040 martyrs. These ongoing massacres are part of the continuous crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people for the tenth consecutive month.”
“It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation army heavily focuses on targeting and bombing displaced civilians inside schools and gatherings of displaced civilians in general, especially in areas the occupation claims to be “safe zones.” This is part of a deliberate and planned strategy to achieve the maximum number of civilian casualties”, they added.
“These massacres occur amidst the collapse of the healthcare system, the destruction and burning of hospitals, taking them out of service, the immense pressure on medical teams and the remaining surgical rooms, the shortage of medical supplies, the closure of crossings preventing the travel of the wounded and sick, and the catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions.”
The office held Israel and the American administration fully responsible for the continuation of these massacres against displaced persons and civilians.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense, stated that Israel focuses on civilians and shelters in the Gaza Strip in its airstrikes. He continued, “The policy of killing persists to this moment, and the targeting of shelters, civilians, hospitals, displaced persons, and homes continues systematically by the Israeli occupation, which is destroying all means of life.”
Until the beginning of this year, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that its centers in the Gaza Strip are sheltering four times their capacity of displaced persons. Approximately 1.4 million displaced persons are taking refuge in 155 of its facilities. The Palestinian Ministry of Education announced that 343 government and UN schools have been bombed, destroyed, or vandalized in the sector.
It clarified 7 months ago that “the total number of displaced persons taking refuge in 155 of its facilities has reached about 1.4 million.” It also noted that “around 400,000 more people were living near these shelters.”
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor had stated that the Israeli army violates schools that tens of thousands of displaced persons have taken as shelters. The violations include severe abuses such as airstrikes, extrajudicial killings, arrests, mistreatment, and terrorizing of civilians.
