Israel Starts Settlement in Lebanon: Colonizers Establish Outpost Near Maron al-Ras

Beirut (Quds News Network)- Israel has launched an illegal settlement in southern Lebanon, despite international laws prohibiting such actions. Colonizers from a settlement movement called ‘Ohr Zafon’ crossed into Lebanon and set up an outpost called “Mi Marom” near the village of Maron Al-Ras, according to Israeli Channel 14.

The colonizers declared their intention to establish a permanent Israeli settlement in the area, claiming that the area once had a Jewish presence. Ohr Zafon, a movement dedicated to promoting settlement in southern Lebanon, carried out its first field activity on the weekend, crossing the Lebanese border. They claimed that “Mi Marom” was the site of ‘an ancient Jewish settlement’.

“We plan to establish a core group here,” members of the movement said. “Maron Al-Ras was once home to a Jewish community, and we will return to all places where Jews lived in Lebanon.”

The movement’s leaders drew historical significance from the area, even claiming that the settlement “Mi Marom” was mentioned in ancient texts.

This illegal settlement attempt comes despite an existing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

Until last week, Israel has committed 140 ceasefire violations, killing 14 Lebanese and injuring 18 others. Last Friday, Israeli forces entered the towns of Aitaroun in Nabatieh and Ayta Al-Shaab in Bint Jbeil. The incursion included movements of tanks and military vehicles.
