Israel rejects swap to free all detainees

Occupied Palestine- A spokesman for the Israeli military said Saturday that an offer by Hamas to release all Israeli detainees in Gaza in exchange for all Palestinians held in Israeli jails is “just a psychological warfare by Hamas.”

When asked about Hamas’ offer, which was announced only 15 minutes before his press conference, the spokesman for the Israeli military, Daniel Hagari, said the offer is psychological warfare by Hamas targeting Israelis.

Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar had said that the movement is ready for an “immediate detainees’ swap to release all Palestinians from Israeli jails in exchange for all Israeli detainees we hold.”

Sinwar’s offer came shortly after Al Qassam Brigades published a recording of its spokesman, Abu Ubaida. He said that the movement had been holding talks in regard to the Israeli detainees in Gaza but Israel kept stalling.

He added that “the price for releasing all Israeli detainees in Gaza has now become releasing all Palestinian hostages in all Israeli jails”.

Abu Ubaida also said that Hamas could hold talks in regard to a partial agreement and “if the enemy wants to close the detainees’ issue all at once, we are ready.”

Hamas leader, Musa Abu Marzouq, had said that Hamas is holding nearly 200 Israelis, some of them are dual nationals.

According to WAFA, until October 3, the occupation state has held over 5250 Palestinians as hostages, including 39 women, 170 children, and 1913 administrative detainees. However, the Israeli army has captured more than 1000 Palestinians within the last 19 days.

According to Israeli media, the representative for families of Israeli detainees called on Israeli authorities to release all Palestinian detainees in return for all Israeli detainees in Gaza. Protests in Tel Aviv have reportedly chanted supporting the deal.
