Israel Re-Arrests Freed Palestinian Detainee, Violating Ceasefire Agreement

Occupied West Bank (Quds News Network)- Israeli occupation forces arrested a female Palestinian detainee in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday after her release in the prisoner exchange deal under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Israa Ghneimat from Surif, Hebron, was arrested by Israeli forces at dawn, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) confirmed.
The PPS stated, “The re-arrest of the released detainee Ghneimat is a new violation of the exchange deals… sending a message that anyone freed remains a target.”
The group warned that this could endanger future agreements. It called on mediators, particularly Egypt and Qatar, to intervene and pressure Israel to honour the terms of the exchange and halt the re-arrest of released detainees.
The first phase of a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel ended on Saturday, resulting in the release of 1,777 Palestinian detainees, who spent a total time amounting to approximately 10,000 years in Israeli detention centres.
