‘Israel’ offers Sheikh Jarrah resident $5 million to sell his house
Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Abdul Fattah Iskafi, a resident of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, said that the Israeli authorities offered him $5 million to sell his house, an offer which he immediately turned down.
Iskafi told the Anadolu Agency (AA) that he has been subjected to harassment by Israeli forces and settlers, however, he will never be compelled to give up on his house.
Iskafi is one of dozens of Sheikh Jarrah residents, who are threatened with forceful expulsion.
His family, as well as 27 other families, settled in Sheikh Jarrah in 1965 under an agreement with the Jordanian government, which ruled the West Bank, including the eastern part of Jerusalem, before the Israeli occupation in 1967, and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Iskafi’s family was originally displaced from Al Buq’a, a village in today’s western part of Jerusalem, in 1948, when ‘Israel’ was created.
“I live now with my 14-member family, including my children and grandchildren, in my 130-meter house”, Iskafi said.
“In 1972, Israeli settlers forged a document and used it to register the land in the Israeli land department”, he added.
