Israel kills two journalists bringing death toll to 168

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Israeli military has murdered two journalists along with their families in Khan Yunis, bringing the death toll of journalists to 168 since the start of the genocide in Gaza.

The Israeli army carried out airstrikes on Khan Yunis, killing Tamim Muammar along with his wife Islam Fayez and two children Mais and Salam. The Israeli strikes also killed Abed Maher Sousi along with two of his nephews.

The Government Media Office has announced on Tuesday that the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 166 since the outbreak of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023.

Last week, the government office announced the death of Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and its cameraman Rami Al-Rifi in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their car in Gaza City.

Despite repeated warnings from Palestinian and international organizations, Israel has continued targeting press teams in Gaza, even those clearly identified with press vests and helmets. This defiance of international warnings has drawn widespread condemnation.

Since October 7, Israel, with US support, has conducted a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in over 131,000 Palestinian casualties, the majority of whom are women and children, and more than 10,000 missing. The ongoing genocide has led to massive destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis, with famine spreading across the region.

Israel has shown disregard for international calls for a ceasefire, including a UN Security Council resolution and orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to prevent genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
