Gaza (Quds News Network)– Paramedic Hamdan Annaba was killed by Israeli forces inside a detention facility. The tragic news was confirmed by family members, who revealed that Hamdan was arrested in Gaza on December 2, 2023, while on duty as an ambulance driver for the Ministry of Health.
According to the family, Hamdan had been on a mission to evacuate the wounded from Gaza through the Netzarim checkpoint when he was kidnapped by Israeli forces. After his arrest, he was subjected to torture, and no information about his whereabouts or condition was made available to his family. The family now believes, based on the details they have gathered, that Hamdan was executed on the same day of his arrest, with Israeli authorities deliberately withholding information about his death.
Hamdan's family has called for an urgent investigation to uncover the truth about his death and to ensure accountability. They stressed that Hamdan was part of a humanitarian team dedicated to saving lives and demanded that his case be treated as a matter of grave concern, particularly given his role as a healthcare provider.
This news comes amidst a rising death toll among Palestinian healthcare workers in Gaza. According to the Ministry of Health, until last May the total number of healthcare victims in Gaza has reached 496 since the Israeli military assault began on October 7. One of the victims of medical workers was Dr. Adnan Al-Bursh, who was killed in Israel's Ofer Prison, further escalating the toll on the healthcare system.
In addition to the fatalities, the Ministry reported that 1,500 healthcare workers have been injured, with 309 still detained by Israeli forces.
