Israel kills over 100 displaced civilians in bombing of school sheltering displaced people
Gaza (Quds News Network)- On the 309th day of the ongoing genocide, a peaceful dawn prayer turned into a massacre as Israeli forces bombed a school in Gaza’s Al-Daraj neighborhood. The attack claimed over 100 lives, turning most of them into pieces, and left dozens injured or missing, marking one of the deadliest assaults in recent weeks.
The Government Media Office reported that the bombing targeted Al-Tabeen School, where thousands of displaced individuals were seeking refuge. Eyewitnesses described the horror, stating that the bombing began immediately after the prayer commenced, causing a rapid rise in casualties.
The attack involved three missiles, each loaded with 2,000 pounds of explosives, according to Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director-General of the Government Media Office. He accused the Israeli military of knowingly targeting civilians, condemning their narrative as a series of lies aimed at justifying the massacre.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal confirmed that nearly 90% of those praying in the school were murdered, with most injuries being critical. The school, which housed over 2,000 displaced individuals, is the fifth shelter targeted in the last two weeks.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with ambulances and civil defense teams working tirelessly to transport the victims to nearby hospitals. Hamas condemned the massacre as a significant escalation in the already unprecedented series of crimes committed against Gaza, attributing the violence to unwavering American support for Israel’s actions.
This latest attack further deepens the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as international calls for an end to the violence continue to grow.
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem's executive director, Yuli Novak, said: “The Israeli regime has turned its prisons into a network of torture camps for Palestinians, as part of a coordinated onslaught intended to destroy Palestinian society as a collective.”
Israel says it will open the Rafah crossing only for individuals and under full Israeli control, while continuing to block the entry of aid and goods into Gaza, tying any broader opening to the recovery of an Israeli soldier’s body despite the ceasefire terms.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi says the Justice Department will seek the death penalty for Elias Rodriguez after an incident against former Israeli soldiers at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, a move she announced at a Florida Zionist conference while framing the case within a broader crackdown on alleged ‘antisemitism’ .
