Israel kills journalist Ibrahim Muharib bringing death toll to 169 journalists
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Journalist Ibrahim Muharib, 26, was killed last night by Israeli forces in northern Khan Younis, Gaza. Muharib, a freelance journalist working with several media outlets and a member of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, was part of a group of journalists targeted by Israeli tanks while on their way to the city of Hamad. The attack also left journalist Salma Al-Qudumi injured, who was later transported to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces launched airstrikes and artillery fire on the journalists near the city of Hamad, northwestern Khan Younis, as they were covering the ongoing Israeli military incursion. Muharib’s body was discovered on Monday morning after he was initially reported missing during the attack.
With Muharib’s death, the total number of journalists killed since the start of the Israeli assault on Gaza and the West Bank on October 7, 2023, has risen to 169, according to the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate. Additionally, 186 journalists have been injured, and 51 have been detained during this period.
The Government Media Office in Gaza condemned the killing of Muharib, holding Israel fully responsible for this “heinous crime” and urging the international community and press-related organizations worldwide to take action against Israel’s ongoing war crimes and the targeted killing of Palestinian journalists.
Muharib’s death underscores the severe risks faced by journalists covering the genocide in Gaza, as Israeli forces continue to target media personnel.
