Israel kills journalist Hamza Murtaja in airstrike on Gaza School

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli airstrikes claimed the life of journalist Hamza Murtaja during an attack on Mustafa Hafez School in western Gaza City. Hamza is the brother of Yaser Murtaja, the first journalist killed by Israeli forces during the Great March of Return in 2018. Yaser was fatally sniped while covering the peaceful protests near the border with the occupied territories.

The Israeli airstrike on Mustafa Hafez School, which was sheltering more than 700 displaced people, resulted in over 20 casualties, most of whose bodies were found torn apart, in addition to dozens of injuries.

Eyewitnesses had reported that Yaser Murtaja, a photojournalist, was targeted by an Israeli sniper while documenting protests near the security fence east of Khan Younis. He was shot in the abdomen while wearing a vest clearly marked “PRESS.”

With Hamza’s death, the total number of journalists killed by Israeli forces since October 7 of last year has risen to 170, marking the deadliest toll in modern warfare for journalists.
