Israel Issues New Forced Displacement Threats for Densely Populated Areas in Central Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Israeli military has issued new forced displacement orders for several densely populated areas in the heart of Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza, leaving residents with nowhere to flee, as more than 86 percent of the Gaza Strip is now designated as militarized zones or subject to evacuation orders. The Israeli military added it will expand its ground operations in the city, ordering residents of southwestern neighborhoods to flee to the so-called al-Mawasi “safe zone” in southern Gaza. However, Israel has heavily bombarded that area in recent months and is already overcrowded with displaced people and tents, leaving no available space. The latest report by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said 86.1 percent of the Gaza Strip now falls within Israeli militarised zones or forced evacuation orders. The UN estimates that more than 725,000 people have been displaced yet again since Israel violated the ceasefire agreement in mid-March. Most have been displaced several times, some more than 10 times. Since launching its assault on Gaza, the Israeli military has issued dozens of forced displacement orders to Palestinians in the war-torn enclave amid intense bombardment and months-long blockade on aid.
